Our Mission
The Brazilian Heritage Collection was founded with a core mission: to gather, preserve, and publicly exhibit the material culture of Brazil's formative years. Spanning from the early colonial period to the fall of the Empire in 1889, our archives house rare manuscripts, numismatic objects, and artifacts that tell the complex story of a nation forging its identity in the tropics. Based in the United States, we operate on a sustainable, for-profit stewardship model. Unlike traditional private collections that remain hidden in vaults, we function as a "public-facing private collection." We believe that stewardship of historical artifacts carries a responsibility to facilitate scholarship and public access. The Brazilian Heritage Collection also functions as a cultural bridge between Brazil and the United States, highlighting the historical connections, diplomatic relations, commercial exchanges, and intellectual currents that linked the two nations during Brazil’s formative centuries.

Founder's Statement
